How DataKern certification works

Short rules, in plain English. Please read them before you register.

The exam

This is an open-book and unproctored exam. You may check your notes, your course material and the documentation. Please do not ask an AI to answer the questions for you. We cannot check, but the exam is for you, and the badge shows what you can do.
The exam has no code to write. You read a situation, choose what to use where, decide how to brief an AI assistant, judge its proposal, and handle a change.
Associate has 45 questions and Professional has 30. Each exam lasts 90 minutes. The clock starts when you press Start exam.
The server keeps the time. The clock on your screen is only a display.

The exam is a series of cases. Each case has a short story, and five questions about it, always in this order: Spot the problem, Pick the solution, Ask the AI, Check the plan, Handle the change.
The exam room shows the case on the left and one question on the right. The question numbers along the top show what you have answered. Click any number to jump there and come back. You can mark a question for review.
When you are done, open Review answers. It counts your answered and unanswered questions and lets you go back to any of them. Unanswered questions score zero, and you must confirm that before you submit.
Answers are saved as you go. The server keeps the time, and a bar at the top shows what is left.

You get 2 attempts. Your login works for 14 days. Pressing Start exam uses one attempt. Logging in again does not.
If your internet drops, your timer pauses for up to 10 minutes in total, so you can fix it. Your answers stay on your computer and are sent when you are back. After that the timer runs again. If you are signed out, log in again and your attempt continues.
If our platform fails, DataKern can cancel that attempt and give it back.
If you use both attempts without passing, you can ask again after 14 days.
Professional opens after you pass Associate in the same track.
Practice logins work for 60 days, for as many attempts as you like. Practice never changes your exam.

You see pass or fail, a score band, and your Engineering Judgment Profile. You do not see the answers.
If you think a case was unclear or unfair, you can challenge it within 7 days. Kiran reviews the case exactly as you saw it.
If you pass, Kiran approves your badge by hand. Your badge says this exam was open-book, unproctored and 90 minutes long.
Anyone can check a badge on the official verify page. The page shows your name, the credential, the date and whether the badge is valid. It never shows your score.

We keep your name, email and exam record. We never store your passcode in readable form.
